Objectives:

  • describe unique features of policy and advocacy evaluation
  • understand the benefits of using data for program improvement
  • name at least 2 techniques to engage stakeholders in using data for reflection
  • describe a structured method for communicating key results through story telling

Speaker: Sheryl Scott, MPH 

 

Bio: Sheryl Scott is an independent consultant who collaborates with community-based and public health organizations to help build their capacity to address health disparities. She spent five years with a national American Indian health agency and five years with CDC national health hotlines before becoming a public health consultant in 1999. One of her first consulting projects was collaborating with the Indigenous Peoples Task Force to develop a technical assistance program for tobacco projects in urban/tribal American Indian and LGBT/Two spirit communities. She also helped to develop tobacco policy evaluation projects for a historically black college, youth empowerment center and the North Carolina state health department. Her current clients include the Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Control Program, the Centers for Disease Control and ClearWay Minnesota.
